DescriptionShoals have been identified in the South East Bend section of the St. Clair River navigational channel during a 2024 hydrographic survey. Public Works and Government Services Canada, on behalf Canadian Coast Guard, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, requires navigational maintenance dredging at the South East Bend channel of the St. Clair River for open water disposal in the Upstream St. Clair River Open Water Disposal Area. The dredging and open water disposal is planned for 2025 and in 2026. The work comprises dredging and disposal within Canadian Waters. Three scenarios (A, B, and C) are proposed with different dredge areas and volumes within the South East Bend channel for years 2025 and 2026. The dredging site is an open navigation area. Any work at and around the dredging site is subject to ongoing commercial and recreational navigation. The contractor shall be responsible for health and safety for all of its team members on site, and for protection of the general public and government employees adjacent to the site to the extent that they may be affected by conduct of the work. Due to Fisheries and Oceans Canada concerns in this area, the contractor shall not perform in-water work within the prohibited window of March 15 to July 15.
